Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
Astrolabe ("we", "us") operates the Astrolabe mobile application (the "App") and the website at tryastrolabe.com (the "Site"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. By using the App or the Site you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address when you create an account or sign in with Google.
- Usage data: how you interact with the App — searches run, products viewed, features used, which Amazon marketplace you are browsing, your plan tier, and your app version. We use this to improve the product, decide what to build next, and enforce plan limits.
- An anonymous device identifier: a random ID generated on your device the first time you open the App. It is not your name, email, advertising ID, or anything Apple or Google gave us, and it cannot be traced back to you by anyone else. We use it to tell one device's activity apart from another's — so we can count how many people hit a problem rather than how many times it happened. It is recorded whether or not you are signed in.
- Crash and error reports: when something goes wrong in the App we record the error message, the technical stack trace, which screen you were on, your device platform and OS version, and your app version. This is generated by the App itself, not by a third-party crash service.
- Feedback you send us: if you report a problem or send feedback from inside the App, we store your message along with the screen you sent it from.
- Device data: basic technical information (device type, OS version) and a push notification token if you enable alerts.
- Waitlist information: if you join our pre-launch waitlist on the Site, we collect your email address and which device you use (iPhone, Android, or either). We use this only to notify you when the App becomes available on your platform, and to decide which platform to prioritise. You can ask us to remove you at any time.
We do not collect payment card details. All purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play, and we never see your card information.
We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not build advertising profiles.
How we use it
- To provide and operate the App's features.
- To enforce free and paid plan limits.
- To send notifications you have opted into (price and rank alerts).
- To notify waitlist subscribers when the App launches on their device.
- To find and fix crashes, and to see how many people a given problem affects.
- To understand which features are used and decide what to build next.
- To work out which products our users are interested in, so the App can track more of them. This uses the product, not who looked at it.
We do not use any of this to make automated decisions about you, and we do not sell or share it for advertising.
How we share it
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers. We share data only with service providers who help us run the App, and only as needed to provide the service:
- Cloud hosting and database — to run the App and store your account, watchlist and the data described above.
- AI processing — product questions you send to the in-app adviser are processed by our AI provider to generate a response.
- Amazon product data providers — we look up public Amazon listing information. These requests are about products, not about you.
Analytics and crash reports stay in our own database. We do not use a third-party analytics or crash-reporting company.
Affiliate links
Some links to third-party suppliers (such as Alibaba or Made-in-China) may be affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never influence which products or suppliers the App recommends — our scores and advice are independent.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, your watchlist, your usage records and any feedback you sent us.
Two things survive that deletion, in a form that is no longer linked to you. Usage events and crash reports are kept with the link to your account permanently removed, so what remains is an anonymous record that something happened — for example that a crash affected twelve people — with nothing identifying which people. We keep these because they are how we find and fix problems, and deleting them would not add to your privacy once the link to you is gone.
Waitlist subscribers can be removed on request by emailing us.
Your choices
- Turn notifications on or off in the App.
- Delete your account and data at any time.
- Unsubscribe from the waitlist at any time.
- Contact us to request a copy of your data.
- Ask us to delete the anonymous records described above — email us from the address on your account and we will remove them.
Children
Astrolabe is intended for users 18 and older, is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
We may update this policy and will revise the date above when we do. Continued use of the App or Site means you accept the updated policy.
